The video work ‘Bonkers’ by Clemens Wittkowski is crazy in the truest sense of the word. Haunting. Powerful. Counteracting. We are close to the silhouette of a long- haired person who, without fear, moves his head with maximum impetuosity to a death metal sequence. Headbanging in its purest form. We feel tension, power, disorder, and boundlessness. Everything comes to a halt when a shrill guitar feedback sound kicks in, the headbanging itself almost freezes in slow motion and we are served an artificially intelligent commentary from the off, as authoritative as it is calm. As a challenge, attitude, or conclusion? In any case, before the final beat sets the final point: “Look, if you are driving for excellence all hell breaks loose. I ́m not kidding. You have to allow disorder and you personally have to foster a relationship with anxiety. With unpredictability. With constant struggle. That’s all.“
